BUNKER HILL – The Whitko girls basketball team will get to play for a championship today.

The Wildcats continued their impressive season Friday with a win in the first round of the Miami County Tournament at Maconaquah High School.

Whitko defeated North Miami 52-45 to earn a spot in the title game Saturday.

The Wildcats, who improved to 7-4, are slated to play Peru at 6 p.m. tonight in the championship contest.

Peru defeated Maconaquah 61-24 Friday in the other contest. Peru is 2-7 on the season. North Miami drops to 2-10.

The Whitko boys team dropped a 57-33 final Friday to host Maconaquah in the Miami County Tourney.

The Wildcats, who are now 1-6 on the season, are slated to play North Miami today at 3 p.m. in a consolation game.

Peru defeated North Miami 44-40 in Friday’s other contest.
