The Milford Public Library will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 24-25, for Christmas. It will also be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, for New Year’s. The drop boxes on the south end of the library will be available for returning items.

Christmas Break at the Library
Don’t get bored during Christmas break! Come to the library and have fun making a variety of make and take crafts. Drop in Craft Days are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Monday, Dec. 23, come make an ornament for someone special. Join us Thursday, Dec. 26, to design the outside of a drinking glass. Visit the Library on Friday, Dec. 27, and make a puzzle wreath ornament you can add your photo to and hang on your Christmas tree. On Saturday, Dec. 28, the craft is painting sun catchers with markers. We are open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. The last chance to make a craft will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30. Children can choose from a variety of crafts that day. These crafts are for all ages. Preschool children may need some help from an adult.

E-reader Workshop
Did Santa bring a new e-reader for Christmas but you need some help learning how to use it? The Milford Public Library staff is offering a workshop on two dates to help you unravel the mysteries of an e-Reader. The first workshop will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 2. If you can’t make that one, another is offered at 7 p.m. Jan. 13. Bring your devices and cords and the staff will be happy to assist you in learning how to use your new e-Reader.

Winter Adult Reading Program
Adults age 18 and up are invited to join our Winter Adult Reading Club this year. Beginning Jan. 2 and continuing until March 31, enter drawings weekly for fun prizes! Winter is a great time to get caught up on all those fantastic books you just did not have time to read in warmer months. Ask library staff to recommend something wonderful and enter the drawing for each book read or BOCD listened to. This year’s theme is “Literary Elements.” Registration begins Jan. 2.

Are you a fan of Science Fiction? Check out James S. A. Corey’s “space opera” series, The Expanse. Prefer nonfiction? Try The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, by Rebecca Skloot. Pick up a copy of this year’s community book read, Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck or any other classic you missed reading in high school.  Spend the winter wrapped up in a good book!
