Margaret R. Cartwright, 68, of Knightstown, Ind., and formerly of North Manchester, Ind., passed away at 9:40 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2013, in Knightstown.

She was born in Wabash, Ind., on Sept. 15, 1945, to Marion ‘Bud’ and Esther Berniece (Shewman) Ireland Jr. Margaret was a 1965 graduate of Manchester High School.

A homemaker, she had also worked at Bryan Manufacturing and Timbercrest Senior Living Community, both in North Manchester. She attended Liberty Mills United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons: Marion Lee Vartwright, Knightstown, Ind.; and John Henry Cartwright, North Manchester; a daughter: Bernice Arlene (Robert) Combs, North Manchester; two brothers: Gordon Ireland, North Manchester; Marion ‘Buddy’ Ireland, Wabash, Ind. four sisters: Ruth DeTurk and Mary Dryden, both of North Manchester; Melinda Johnson, Estero, Fla.; and Maria Ireland, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to McKee Mortuary, North Manchester.
