The streets of Downtown Warsaw, Winona Lake and Leesburg are alive with the art of students from Warsaw Community Schools.

The first annual Holiday Banner Project resulted in art judged by Warsaw Rotarians and are now displayed for the holidays to promote the musical “The Sound of Music” at Wagon Wheel Theatre running until Dec. 22.

“The banner program seeks to promote the arts in the Warsaw area, especially the talents of your young people,” noted Will Dawson, director of the Wagon Wheel and a Rotarian.

Instructors at Warsaw Community Schools had students present artwork from their classes and selected their top choices from each school.  Rotarians then voted at their weekly meeting to choose the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

The banners feature the students artwork on one side and the theme, “For a few of your favorite things, shop downtown Warsaw” on the other. Dr. Craig Hintz, superintendent of Warsaw Community Schools, recognized all of the winners at a recent ceremony held at Wagon Wheel Theater.
