The Syracuse Police Department say a Syracuse man reported receiving a threatening letter on Dec. 5, the same day a Bremen woman received a very similar letter. Today, that man was arrested for intimidation and false reporting.
Jason Wilson, 40, of Syracuse reported he had received a letter threatening his safety. Syracuse Police Chief Tony Ciriello said the following day, at 7:04 p.m., an alarm was received from Wilson’s residence on Pickwick Drive. Upon officers arrival, they found a vehicle on fire in the driveway. Wilson was found in the backyard of his residence leaning against a tree.
Wilson told the officers that he noticed his truck on fire and then someone tried to break out his sliding glass window to gain entry into the house. Wilson said he chased the person and the two of them got into a fight. The alleged unknown male got away.
Officers and K-9 units searched the area extensively but could not locate anyone. On Saturday, Dec. 7, Wilson and the female in Bremen both again received threatening letters that were turned over to Syracuse Police.
After following up on several leads and interviewing numerous witnesses it was determined that Wilson sent the threatening letters to himself, the female and her father in Bremen, and also to Kohl’s department store in Warsaw where the female works. The letters threatened the safety and the lives of those who received them.
Wilson was arrested by Syracuse Police Department for two counts of intimidation as Class D felonies and 1 count of false informing as a misdemeanor, Jason was transported to the Kosciusko County Jail where he was booked on those charges. The investigation into this matter is still on going and may result in more charges being filed.
Syracuse Police were assisted in the investigation by Warsaw Police and the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
