Jack Anglin was presented the 2013 L.N. “Pete” Thorn Award for his service to others in Kosciusko County at a recent meeting held at Baker Youth Club. The L.N.

“Pete” Thorn Award is given by the Rotary Club of Warsaw to the man or woman who best exemplifies the high qualities and principles of Pete Thorn, as to dedication to goals, citizenship, concern for youth, excellence in sportsmanship and Service Above Self.

A bust of Lee Norman “Pete” Thorn is housed in the Baker Youth Club in Warsaw. The statue was sculpted by Fred W. Olds, commissioned by the Warsaw Rotary Club who unveiled the work on June 24, 1980. It was noted by Ken Locke, presenter, that Anglin served in World War II and then came back to make the world a little better place” in Kosciusko County after the war.

He has been active at Clunette United Methodist Church, the city of Leesburg, Kosciusko County Shrine, Warsaw Rotary Club, supporting agricultural groups such as 4H and “hundreds of random acts of kindness” to untold people. Anglin is the 31st recipient of the award.
