Investigators from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department are continuing to investigate a deadly crash that occurred on U.S. 33 north of CR 50 and north of Syracuse on Nov. 20. The accident claimed the life of Mario Alberto Reyes, 25, and a passenger in his vehicle, Vincente Martinez, 23, both of Ligonier.

According to police, data collected from the crash scene indicates the vehicle was traveling at a rate of speed in excess of 100 mph when it left the road and overturned in a field. Investigators are seeking additional information about a light colored SUV that may have been in the area at the time of the crash.
