Snow Causing Travel Difficulties

Snow falling across the region is causing some hazardous driving conditions. Along SR 15 just south of Warsaw Community High School, four separate minor accidents were reportedly caused by snow-covered roads late this afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana says lake effect snow will continue to fall into tonight with significant accumulations. Strong north/northwest winds will also result in blowing and drifting.

A Lake Effect Snow Warning remains in effect for Marshall, Starke, St. Joseph and LaPorte counties in Indiana and Berrien and Cass counties in Michigan until midnight tonight. Snowfall amounts are already topping 7.5 inches in St. Joseph County and as much as a foot of snow is expected in some areas.

A Lake Effect Snow Advisory is in effect until midnight for Elkhart and Fulton counties.

Locally, the NWS is forecasting only a light covering of snow for Kosciusko County.
