Betty Yates, 75, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away in her home Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013.

She was born April 8, 1938 in Hutchinson, Kan., and adopted by William and Mabel Randles. On July 25, 1964, she married Russell Yates in Shelbyville, Ind.

Mrs. Yates was a member at Grace Community Church, Goshen. She worked at several area businesses including: Thwaits Chiropractics, Syracuse; Proof Company, Goshen; and Essex in Ligonier.

He survives along with four sons: Gordon West, Bozeman, Mont.; David (Vicki) West, Phoenix, Ariz.; Russell Lee Yates, Millersburg, Ind.; and Kenneth (Patty) Yates, Goshen, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Catherine (Menno) Hochstetler, Nappanee, Ind.; and Sylvia (Jake) Hochstetler, Milford, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson: Jeremy Yates; sisters: Maxine Shaffer and Edna Hochstetler; and a brother: Billy Lee Randles.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, where a 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2, funeral service will take place. Burial will follow at Syracuse Cemetery.
