The National Weather Service has released today that a second tornado struck Kosciusko County during Sunday’s storms.

According to an update released today, an EF-1 tornado traveled 1.7 miles with winds of 95 mph and had a width of 275 yards. The NWS approximates that the tornado touched down for only 2 minutes and was on the ground from 3:54 p.m. to 3:56 p.m.

According to NWS, the touchdown occurred in an open field 1.6 miles southeast of Oswego and lifted just East of Oswego. The tornado damaged a center pivot irrigation system and rapidly moved northeast crossing County Road East 450 North (west of County Road North 250 East) causing seven utility poles to either snap or severely lean across the road.

The tornado continued into The Pines subdivision and caused extensive damage to 12-inch to 18-inch diameter pine trees, snapping many of them. Several homes and vehicles were impacted by the falling debris.

The tornado continued northeast over a combination of open fields and groves of trees with numerous snapped hardwood trees. A home suffered roof damage on North County Road 300 East just south of Oswego with the tornado lifting shortly after over an open field.
