BOURBON – Taylor Hatfield made it official Thursday.

The Triton High School standout guard will be a member of the first women’s basketball team at Indiana University East.

Hatfield, a 5-4 backcourt performer, signed with the Red Wolves at Triton on Thursday.

Hatfield is a three-year letter winner for coach Adam Heckaman’s program. She averaged 14.1 points-per-game last season to rank second on the team and also averaged two assists and two steals per game. The Trojans finished 17-6 last year and won their second straight Northern State Conference championship at 7-0. Triton is 33-12 overall and 13-1 in the NSC over the last two seasons.

Hatfield, who is also a three-time regional qualifier in cross country, also excels in the classroom. The daughter of Harold and Angela Hatfield, she is ranked No. 1 in her class and plans to study biology and pre-denistry and IU East, which is located in Richmond.

Hatfield will play for coach Tiffani Selhorst at IU East next season.
