Milford School honored veterans during its annual Veterans Day program, which was filled with patriotic tunes and special readings — many of which were conducted by students.
At the beginning of the program, Milford Principal Cindy Kaiser noted how important it is for them to include students in the program each year.
The fifth through eighth grade choirs sang a selection of patriotic tunes under the guidance of choir teacher Peg Zimmerman, including an Armed Forces medley. Other musical talents were displayed with the playing of the “Star-Spangled Banner” on an electric guitar, and Breann Haab performing “Taps.”
Boy Scouts Troup 747 and Webelos Pack 3747 gave a demonstration on folding the flag and each fold’s symbolism while other students helped put together a remembrance table for missing service members and prisoners of war.
Members of the American Legion Ancil Geiger Post 226 were also on hand to take part in the program. Post member Bob Geiger was the guest speaker for the event.
After the program, veterans were treated to coffee and thanks for their service.
