No decision has been announced by the Indiana Department of Transportation on the CR 29 bridge, north of Syracuse. Further information is expected in the next four weeks, according to Mary Foster, public relations Fort Wayne District.

According to Foster, INDOT has progressed through the CR 29 Public Hearing comment period from the Aug. 28 public hearing and is finalizing the environmental document. Once that document is reviewed and signed more information will become available.

INDOT is proposing a bridge on CR 29 over U.S. 6 with no access onto the state highway at that location. Access to the highway would be from SR 13 to the east, or CR 127 to the west.

Concerned citizens at the public hearing in August urged INDOT to reconsider alternatives to the bridge indicating eliminating one dangerous intersection would just create multiple other dangerous intersections.
