First Winter Snowfall Forecast For Tuesday

It seems St. Joseph County could be in a for its first significant snowfall of the winter as the National Weather Service office near North Webster has issued a Lake Effect Snow Warning from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.

A Lake Effect Snow Advisory is also in effect for Marshall and Pulaski counties for the same time frame.

The NWS says snow showers for the southern counties in the advisory can expect light accumulations of approximately 1 inch of snow. More intense lake effect snow showers will develop overnight and continue into Tuesday morning where 2 inches to 5 inches of snow are expected. St. Joseph County could see from 3 inches to 7 inches of snow by Tuesday afternoon.

North/Northwest winds from 10 mph to 20 mph overnight may also lead to blowing and drifting and reduced visibility. Roads are expected to become slick and hazardous.
