LIGONIER – Make it 10 in a row for the Fairfield volleyball program.
The Falcons made it a perfect 10 in their sectional championship streak in impressive fashion Saturday.
The No. 6 Falcons flew high to top Tippecanoe Valley 3-0 in the title tilt of the Class 3-A West Noble Sectional.
Coach Carla Herschberger’s team will host Fort Wayne Concordia Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a regional match. The Falcons beat Concordia 3-1 in the regional in 2012.
Haley Brown powered down 14 kills as Fairfield defeated the Vikings 25-17, 25-15, 25-11.
Sierra Smith added nine kills for the champions.
Caylie Teel led the way for the Vikings in the loss. Teel had seven kills to go with eight digs and two blocks for Valley.
Sara Alexander had four kills for Valley. Kelsey Eckert had eight assists. Tenaya Shull had eight digs and Lauren Early seven for the Vikings.
Valley finishes its’ season at 18-10.
Fairfield defeated NorthWood 25-19, 25-22, 25-19 in the semifinals Saturday. Smith had 13 kills and Brown 10 for the Falcons.
Valley defeated host West Noble 25-17, 25-9, 25-17 in the other semifinal.
Fairfield, which made five trips to the State Finals while in Class 2-A, was 35-2 a year ago and lost in the semi state championship match.
