Barbershop Chorus Presents ‘Celebrate Harmony’
Chain O’ Lakes Barbershop Chorus will present “Celebrate Harmony” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20. The show will be held at Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center.
Founded in 1938, the Barbershop Harmony Society is celebrating its 75th anniversary. Chain O’ Lakes Chorus is a chapter of the society. Founded in 1958, the chorus has 26 members from Kosciusko and Whitley counties.
The chorus’ current director, Dick Sutton, said there will be a variety of musical groups performing. “It will be a variety of music, predominately barbershop,” said Sutton. “It should be very entertaining.”
The show will feature three quartets, two of which are a part of the chorus. The newest quartet from Warsaw is called Four O’ Clock Shadow. A four-man quartet, The Chain Gang, will also be performing.
The headliner of the show is a four-man group called Major Lift from Fort Wayne. The base of the quartet is from Warsaw, said Sutton, a chorus member for the past 49 years.
Also, Sacred Heart Singers, a children’s choir, will be performing several songs. Warsaw Community High School Select Chorale will do several songs as well.
The third annual show will feature free performances immediately following the main show, expected to last two hours. All the groups will be singing and there is no charge for the after-show, called Black Box Studio, held across the hall from the performing arts center.
