In what may turn out to be the last summer-like weekend of the year, those at the annual Syracuse Fall Harvest Festival enjoyed picture perfect, sunny and warm weather, and sent the artisan and farmer’s market off with a bang for another season.

Sidewalks at Veterans Memorial Park at Crosson Mill in Syracuse were thick with families eating ham and bean soup, sipping fresh squeezed apple cider, shopping at 35 vendor booths, painting pumpkins and jumping up and down during the miniature pig races.

This past Saturday’s event saw the greatest turnout for the annual festival to date. Approximately 200 children took advantage of the hayrides being offered throughout the day.

“It was great,” said Tyler McLead with the Syracuse Parks and Recreation Department. “According to those who have been around for the five years we’ve been having the Harvest Festival, they definitely think it’s the best turnout we’ve ever had.”
