Sandra Sue Keener, 72, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013.
Sandy was born Jan. 14, 1941, in Warsaw, Ind., to Dale and Juanita Warner.
Sandy received the love and admiration of every person she met. Her giving spirit transcended her daily life. Sandy worked as a nurse for over 50 years at Plymouth General Hospital, Elkhart General Hospital, the Ask-a-Nurse program and many other locations even after retirement. Even in death Sandy helped others by being an organ donor.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, and a caring nurse. Sandy’s biggest fear was not being able to provide for her two boys. She worked three jobs, went to school and received her nursing degree from Purdue University while caring for her sons Kim and Kerry “Pete.”
Sandy is survived by her two sons: Kim (Pat) Keener, Kerry “Pete” (Terri) Keener; sisters: Darlene (Larry) Speigle, Wendy (John) Kimpel, Marsha (Steve) Schmitz; daughter-in-law: Sue Keener; grandchildren: Aryn, Michael, Rachel, Sam and Maggie; great-granddaughter: Dixie; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Aloha, 937 N. Detroit St., Warsaw.
