A federal grand jury has returned an indictment against a Milford man who was once arrested in one of the largest drug busts in Kosciusko County history.

The United States Attorney’s Office announced today that Jose Gonzalez, 61, of Milford, was charged in a two-count indictment with one count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and one count of distribution of a controlled substance.

In 2005, Gonzalez, then 53, and Yolanda Gonzalez, then 46, were arrested at their North CR 100 East, Milford, home for dealing cocaine/narcotic drugs and marijuana. When arrested, the couple was in possession of more than $220,000 in cash, 127 pounds of marijuana, 3 kilos of cocaine, several weapons and drug paraphernalia. The amount of drugs found at that time was valued at more than $300,000.

Gonzalez was identified in 2005 as one of the largest suppliers of illegal drugs in Kosciusko and southern Elkhart counties.

The latest charges were filed as the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case has been assigned to and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Frank E. Schaffer.
