Shorthanded Trojans Defeated

images copySOUTH BEND – Playing shorthanded, the Triton tennis team came out on the short end of a 3-2 final at South Bend Riley Friday.

The match was a make-up contest that was postponed on Wednesday due to the heat.

The Trojans were missing three players from their varsity lineup.

Dean Howdeshell and Lucas Shafer posted dominating wins in singles play for Triton.

Howdeshell won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles for the Trojans and Shafer recorded a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles.

Triton drops to 6-5, while Riley improves to 3-4.

Triton won the junior varsity match by a 3-0 final.

Triton hosts Bremen Monday and New Prairie Tuesday in a pair of conference matches.
