Donald E. Crawford, 80, of Larwill, Ind., passed away at 3 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born on Feb. 27, 1933, in Boone County, he was the son of Charles R. Crawford and Ruby F.  (Kinkade) Crawford. On June 16, 1970 he married Carolyn J. Darr in Lebanon. He was a custodian at Whitko Community Schools, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed spending time with his family, being outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years: Carol; a son: Kenny (Kathy) Carson, Huntingdon, Tenn.; daughters: Penny (Ron Crosby) Hemphill, Syracuse, Ind.; Bonny (Dan) Warren, Leesburg, Ind.; and Donna (Carl “Bubba”) Hooks, Silver Lake, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his dog: Peanut.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, a sister and an infant grandson: Jordan Warren.

A memorial gathering will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. The funeral service is at 7 p.m. Friday. Funeral Celebrant Sharon Brockhaus will officiate.

Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Crawford’s memory to Humane Society of Whitley County or Parkview Whitley Home Health Care and Hospice.
