INDIANAPOLIS – Three words describe the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir’s 77th season: Bold. Versatile. Profound. The scale of Verdi’s operatic Requiem and the poignancy and raw emotion of Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem balance against the swanky, cabaret-style Mood Indigo jazz concerts and three Festival of Carols performances, which are full of musical Christmas morsels.

Among the most unique aspects of the 190-member Symphonic Choir’s season is the breadth of repertoire presented to Indiana audiences: jazz to baroque masterworks, Christmas favorites to pillars of classical choral repertoire.

The 2013-14 performance season includes:

  • Mood Indigo: Sunday, Sept. 15, 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., Indiana Landmarks Center
  • Verdi’s Requiem: Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11 and 12, both at 8 p.m., Hilbert Circle Theatre (with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra)
  • Festival of Carols: Sunday, Dec. 8, 7 p.m., Scottish Rite Cathedral and Sunday, Dec. 22, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., The Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts
  • Handel’s Messiah: Saturday, Dec. 21, 8 p.m., Clowes Memorial Hall (with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra)
  • Gala Bel Canto: Rule Britannia | An Evening at the Proms: Saturday, March 1, 2014, 6 p.m., The Conrad Indianapolis
  • Britten’s War Requiem: Saturday, May 3, 2014, 8 p.m., The Palladium

Season Subscriptions are available for $130 and individual tickets range from $20 to $62. Student tickets are $15. Tickets and more information are available at indychoir.org or by calling the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir at 317-940-9057.
