87cf13c1-93be-4e65-90d6-139f3cfc991eShirley A. Newman, 77, of Warsaw, Ind., and formerly of Palestine, Ind., passed away at 8 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at Select Specialty Hospital of Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was born April 3, 1936, in Warsaw to Melvin and Cathrine (Bowser) Miller. On July 24, 1956, she married Robert D. Newman in Warsaw.

Shirley worked at Plating Works of Warsaw. She was a graduate of Warsaw High School and enjoyed crafting, especially knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by a daughter: Cathy (Jim) McClone, Mentone, Ind.; three sons: Rob (Patti) Newman, Akron, Ind.; Dusty (Carol) Newman, Mentone; and Don (Tammy) Newman, Akron, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two step sisters: Sharon Evans, Warsaw; and Becky (William) Bailey, Warsaw.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert D. Newman; a sister: Gloria McPeak; two brothers: Larry Miller and Bobby Miller; and a step sister: Judy McKinney.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone. By request, no services will be held. Burial is to be in Palestine Cemetery at a later date.
