A Warsaw man was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital Wednesday night after he was ejected from his vehicle in an accident near Atwood.

Cody Slone, 21, of North 750 West, Warsaw, was eastbound on Old Road 30 at about 10 p.m. when, according to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department report, he apparently drove his Ford Mustang off the south side of the road. Slone then over corrected the vehicle causing it to turn sideways in the road, slide into a building at 121 E. Main St., and flip onto its top.

A witness told police he heard squealing tires and observed the vehicle traveling at an excessive speed.

Slone was ejected from the vehicle and was found laying in the middle of Main Street. He was airlifted with severe head trauma.

Police say alcohol was a factor in the accident.
