Ruth Ann Haynes, 78, of Laketon, Ind., passed away at 7:50 a.m. Thursday, July 4, 2013, at her home.

She was born in Laketon, Ind., on April 11, 1935, to John and Grace C. (Thompson) Moyer. In 1953, she graduated from Laketon High School and later attended Marion College. On July 23, 1954, she married John W. Haynes. He preceded her in death.

Ruth Ann was a homemaker and retired in 1997 after 24 years as a cook at Laketon Elementary School. She was a lifelong member of the Wesleyan Church, first in Laketon and eventually at Silver Lake, Ind., where she served as organist, Sunday school teacher and prayer leader

The family wishes to thank all of the caregivers from Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home of Fort Wayne, especially Julie Day, for their help, care and support of Ruth.

She is survived by four sons: David A. (Jane) Haynes, Akron, Ind.: Douglas A. Haynes, Laketon; Dennis A. (June) Haynes, Macy, Ind.; Dwight A. Haynes, Laketon; a daughter: Dail Ann (Larry) Moore, Franklinville, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters: Carol Moyer, Austintowne, Ohio; Beth Cooper, North Manchester, Ind.; and Linda (Bob) Rupert, Fort Wayne, Ind.

In accordance with Ruth Ann’s wishes, there will not be a visitation and a private graveside service is planned for the immediate family at Laketon Cemetery at a future date. Arrangements are entrusted to McKee Mortuary, North Manchester.
