Betty L. Fawley, 84, of Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw, Ind.; and formerly of Mentone, Ind., passed away at 7:05 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2013, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

She was born May 23, 1929, in Rochester, Ind., to John and Hazel (Clay) Waltz. On May 15, 1954, she married Jack D. Fawley in Rochester. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2001.

Betty worked at the Mentone School for 24 years in the cafeteria. She was a graduate of Richland Center High School in 1947. She was a member of the Mentone United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed crocheting and sewing for her family. She also loved to spend time with her grandchildren and made all of them an afghan. For many years she enjoyed attending the Nutrition Site in Mentone.

Betty is survived by two daughters: Cindy (Mike) Whetstone, Mentone; and Carol (Wayne) Hintz, Francesville, Ind.; a son: J. Steven (Carla) Fawley, Syracuse, Ind.; 11 grandchildren: Jared, Malissa, Crystal, Carlena, Nick, Blake, Cameron, Scott, Carrie, Jenny and Lisa; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Marjorie Gibbons, Rochester, Ind.; Irene Montague, Fort Myers, Fla.; and Patsy Waltz, Indianapolis, Ind.; and two brothers; Richard (Karen) Waltz, Rochester; Byron (Sue) Waltz, Rochester.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother; and a sister: Esther Jean Hawk.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, at King Memorial Home, Mentone. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Amber Karkosky-Litten. Burial is to take place at Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.
