A Warsaw Police Department officer called to Valley Forge Apartments to investigate a case of a teen runaway, found the girl naked and arrested the 20-year-old resident for child molesting.

Trevor P. Burgess, 20, was taken into custody yesterday when officer Jordan Foreman found the 13-year-old girl with Burgess in his apartment. Burgess admitted to the officer that he had sexual intercourse with the girl, but said he thought she was 19. The girl, according to Officer Foreman, “immediately spoke up” and said, “I told you last night I was 13.”

Burgess was arrested for B felony child molesting. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine up to $10,000.

Burgess is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $10,000 surety bond.
