Jefferson Elementary School in Winona Lake was awarded the Healthy Hoosier School Silver Award from the Indiana Department of Education for the 2012-2013 School Year.

The National Association of State Boards of Education state that, “Health and success in school are interrelated. Schools cannot achieve their primary mission of education if students and staff are not healthy and fit physically, mentally and socially.”

The Healthy Hoosier School Award was developed by the Indiana Action for Healthy Kids Team. This award honors Indiana schools that have policies and educational programs in place to promote proper nutrition and increased physical activity amount their students.
