WINONA LAKE – For Wayne Snider rode the arm of Addison Dellinger in the opener and his bat in the nightcap, capturing the Warsaw Tiger Invitational on Saturday.

Dellinger’s 13th-inning walkoff single lifted the Panthers to a 6-5 victory over Penn in the championship game.  Dellinger, named the tournament MVP, reached on a pair of walks, a hit batsman, and had two hits in the championship game win, and he was the winning pitcher in the 8-1 win over DeKalb in the opener where he stuck out six and allowed just two hits.

Penn opened the game with three runs in the opening fame highlighted by a double by Steven Smallwood, Cole Harlacher’s RBI single, and Tyler Perry’s two-RBI double.  The Kingsmen later went up 4-3 on an RBI single by Toth, driving in Cameron Glaze who doubled.  Penn also plated what was the go-ahed in the sixth when Elliott Lares reached on an error, stole second, and scored on a single by Chris Como.

But every time the Kingsmen hit the board, Snider had an answer.  The Panthers scored three

in the first as well, highlighted by doubles by Brandon Phelps and Jarred Harvey, and an RBI single by Karson York.  The Panthers knotted the score in the sixth when Collin Moord walked, moved to second on a curve ball in the dirt, and then scored on a two-out single by Logan Phillips.

Both teams put runners on and threatened in the extra frames.  Phelps reached on an error and after a ground ball out and a walk, Dellinger delivered the game-winner with one out.

DeKalb topped Warsaw in the consolation game 10-9 after scoring four runs in the seventh.  Cody Krumlauf had three hits for the Barons.  Jason Ferguson had three hits and Michael Miller had a pair, including a home run for the Tigers.  Justin Oberlin and Brandon Shipp each also had two hits for Warsaw.

Penn reached the championship with a 9-2 win over Warsaw in the opener at Tiger Field.  Landon Stratford got the win with five innings worked and Kody Green closed the final two innings while allowing Warsaw to just four hits.  Jason Ferguson took the picking loss for the Tigers.

Warsaw finishes the regular season at 12-14. The Tigers will play Elkhart Memorial next Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in a semifinal game of the Memorial Sectional.
