WARSAW – The Harrison boys and the Washington girls captured team championship honors Friday night in the City Elementary Championships.
Harrison won the final event of the boys competition, the 4 X 200 relay race, to edge Eisenhower for the championship in action at the Tigers Athletic Complex at WCHS.
Harrison, led by individual champions Ailjah Wade and Eleseo Lane, totaled 94.33 points. Eisenhower, led by two-time individual winner Cobe VanHouten, scored 91.
Wade won the 200 in a time of 30.02 and Lane captured the shot put with a top throw of 30-10.50 to lead Harrison.
VanHouten won the 100 in a top time of 13.80 and went 14-05 to claim the long jump.
Max Bradley of Washington won the 50 in 7.80, while Mauricio Calderon of Leesburg captured the 800 in 2:35.75. Bryce Garner of Leesburg won the 400 in 1:06.50 and Trevor Albertson of Lincoln won the high jump by clearing 4-4.
Harrison won the 4 X 200 relay in a time of 2:05.12 and Eisenhower took first in the 4 X 100 relay in 57.85.
Harrison won the championship with 94.33 points, followed by Eisenhower (91), Leesburg (65.5), Lincoln (58), Washington (57), Jefferson (45.5), Madison (24.66), Sacred Heart (14), Claypool (8) and Warsaw Christian School (2).
Brielle Harrison won two events to lead the Washington girls to its championship. Harrison topped the field in both the 100 and 200 in times of 14.83 and 32.11 respectively.
Washington, which won six of the 10 events, totaled 112 points.
Other champions for Washington were Breanna Sumpter in the 50 (8.02), Addie Dickerhoff in the long jump (12-10.50) and Olivia Herman in the high jump (4-5). Washington also won the 4 X 100 relay with a time of 59.80.
Anna Reimink of Warsaw Christian School won the 800 in a time of 2:42.33. Caitlin Kehler of Harrison won the 400 in 1:11.10 and Abby Doberstein of Eisenhower claimed the shot put with a throw of 26-10.75. Harrison won the 4 X 200 relay in 2:10.23.
Washington scored 112 to claim team honors. Sacred Heart was second with 67 points, followed by Harrison (53.5), Jefferson (53), Warsaw Christian School (46), Eisenhower (31.5), Madison (30.5) and Claypool (30.5).
