WARSAW – Warsaw Community High School senior Taylor Cone has had multiple highlights from all three of the sports seasons in his prep athletic career, including several amazing plays turned in on the football field for the Tigers.

Those highlights, along with the classroom diligence and athletic pursuits throughout the year, were obviously enough to catch the attention of several football coaches across the Midwest.

Cone, on Tuesday,  officially announced and signed a letter of intent to attend Hillsdale College on a football scholarship and play for the Chargers and coach Keith Otterbein.

Cone , a three-sport athlete at Warsaw, played wide receiver where he hauled in 40 passes his senior season, served as one of the area’s top punters, and played some free safety for the Tigers.  He was also a member of the Class 4-A sectional championship basketball squad.  Both last year and this year he has stood out on the track, being named all-Northern Lakes Conference in the 110 hurdles, qualifying for regionals in 2012, and being an Academic All-State pick.

While Cone put up impressive stats for his teams, he was rewarded with the awards that followed, earning academic Academic All-State for football, All-NLC in football as a senior, earned a Tiger Pride award, and was a Moose Krause Award nominee.

Cone also made time to have an impact in the community.  A member of the National Honor Society, he served on committees with the Blitz, and he was a member of the Tiger Student Athletic Board.

Cone, who worked his way to a 12.92 GPA on a 12-point scale, and finished ranked 12th in his class of 492 seniors, plans to major in Biology at Hillsdale.
