WARSAW – An offensive outburst in the nightcap earned the Warsaw baseball team a split Saturday versus Bremen.

The visiting Lions edged the Tigers 3-2 in game one before Warsaw won game two 11-1 in five innings in the non-conference twin bill.

Eric Knepper was the hero in the opener for Bremen. Knepper earned the pitching win with a six-hitter and also had a home run and a pair of RBI for the Lions.

Sophomore Tyler LaFollette led Warsaw with two hits, including a double, in the opener.

Senior Jason Ferguson had a double and an RBI for the Tigers.

Junior Tanner Balazs took the pitching loss despite allowing just three hits and two earned runs in five innings of work as the starter. He had two strikeouts and three walks.

Warsaw, which had posted an 11-0 five-inning NLC win at Goshen Friday night, wasted no time in the game two.

The Tigers tallied nine runs in their first at-bat in the second game en route to the rout.

LaFollette had another big game at the plate with four hits as Warsaw collected 12 in the win.

Junior Caleb Moneyheffer went the distance on the hill for the pitching win for Warsaw. He allowed just three hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

Senior Josh Frantz had three hits and two RBI for the Tigers. Junior Justin Oberlin had two hits and Moneyheffer collected three RBI.

Bremen is now 12-4 on the season.

Warsaw, now 8-7 overall, will host NLC foe Plymouth Monday at 4:30.

The Warsaw JV team dropped an 8-3 final to Fairfield Saturday. Ethan Bradley had two hits for the Tigers. Cody Bixler took the pitching loss. The Warsaw JV, now 8-7, also will host Plymouth Monday at 4:30.
