North Webster Public Library News

The North Webster Community Public Library now offers downloadable music free from its website at www.nweb.lib.in.us.
The NWCPL has joined the Library Ideas™ network of public library websites that offer access to over three million songs including Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists. The Freegal™ Music Service allows the NWCPL to increase the size and diversity of its music collection by offering access to over 10,000 music labels from 65 different countries.
Using their North Webster library card and PIN, patrons can download up to three Freegal™ Music tracks in MP3 format per card each week at no direct cost to the patron. The NWCPL underwrites the purchase of the music.
To download music, simply go to the library’s website and click on the Freegal Music icon located on the right side of the home page. Then log in using your North Webster library card number and PIN. You’ll be able to choose from thousands of song in over 100 genres, and song clips are available that allows you to preview a song before downloading it.
While you’re on our website checking out the new Freegal Music Service, be sure to take our online survey. We’re always striving to provide our patrons with the programs and services they need, so please take a few moments to fill out the survey and let us know what you think. There is also a sticky-note board inside the NWCPL where you can write down your comments on sticky-notes and post them on the board. The survey and sticky board are anonymous, so feel free to voice your opinion.
May 13-18 is National Peace Officer Week. To commemorate Peace Officer Memorial Day on May 15, the NWCPL has compiled a list of Indiana peace officers who have given their lives in the line of duty dating back to 1800 to the present. The listing includes the officers’ names, photo if available, age, department, date of death, and details surrounding their sacrifice.
This list will be available for viewing throughout the week along with displays; so be sure to stop in and pay your respects. You’ll gain a greater appreciation for our peace officers who put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe.
On a lighter note, Teen Services Manager Katie Shelby invites teens to “fiesta with us” during Taco Teen Time on Thursday, May 16, at 4:30 p.m. Enjoy a taco bar, Mexican music and telenovelas (Mexico’s version of soap operas); plus a sneak preview of the teen summer reading program. ¡Nos vemos allí! (See you there!)
