Mayor Joe Thallemer and the staff at the new Warsaw City Hall invite the public to an open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11.

The former First National Bank building at 102 S. Buffalo St. across from the courthouse square underwent a major renovation during 2012. City offices moved into the building the week before Christmas.

A dedication ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Mayor Thallemer, former mayor Ernie Wiggins, current council president Diane Quance and State Rep. Rebecca Kubacki will give brief comments before the official ribbon cutting. Tours of the new facility will be offered until 1 p.m. Weather permitting, the Warsaw Community High School jazz band will perform from the west side second floor balcony beginning at 9:30 a.m.

A focal point in the main lobby is a vintage 13-foot, two-sided oak bench that originally sat in the Warsaw train depot. The lobby includes a display area recognizing local orthopedic companies which have earned Warsaw the title of “Orthopedic Capital of the World.” The Chamber of Commerce and Historical Society each have a wall in the lobby to display photos and feature local businesses.

Local award-winning watercolor artist Terry Armstrong will have an exhibit in the main hall. Attendees can also enter a drawing to win one of ten copies of the book “A History of Warsaw” to be given away.
