Residents in a number of Warsaw neighborhoods received grocery bags at their front doors Monday afternoon. Tomorrow morning, students and staff of Lakeland Christian Academy will be back around to collect the bags and donations of nonperishable foods for Combined Community Services.

This is the fifth year LCA has held the food drive and, according to CCS staff, it is one of the biggest collections of the year for the service organization.

On Monday, LCA students left a total of 3,600 grocery bags at homes in a number of Warsaw and Winona Lake neighborhoods.

Suggested food items that the students will collect include: macaroni and cheese, pancake mix, syrup, sugar-free syrup, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, Pop Tarts, tuna and other canned meats, canned vegetables and low sodium vegetables, soups and light soups, gluten free items, dry or canned beans, rice, snacks (like chips, cookies, snack cakes), pasta, spaghetti sauce, canned potatoes, Hamburger Helper and Tuna Helper meals, oatmeal and juices.

As an added service, LCA students will also pick up coat donations during the food drive tomorrow.
