Plan to Attend the Syracuse Adult Book Club
The book club enjoyed reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hossieni’s so much that they are reading, A Thousand Splendid Suns, for the May meeting.

Hosseini is an Afghan born physician and writer. The story follows two contemporary women in the midst of war in Kabul. Described as a beautiful, riveting, and haunting novel that demonstrates Hosseini’s writing ability.

A Thousand Splendid Suns, spent a total of 70 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list with 15 weeks being the number one bestseller. Place an Evergreen hold or call the library for assistance in getting a copy. The book club meets on the second Wednesday of the month.

Patrons of the Syracuse Library are also welcome to place a hold on Hosseini’s next book, And the Mountains Echoed.

Closing Tuesday, April 23 for Staff Training
Materials can be returned in the drop boxes on Harrison Street. Items will not be overdue due to the library’s closing. The staff is attending a conference to share ideas and for exposure to current trends in library services. Tuesday’s Story Time is cancelled.

During The Week
Earth Day is a great time to focus on the things each of us can do to cause less pollution. Look for displays around the library during the week for ideas and activities.

At 5 p.m. Thursday, April 25, Gisela Vore, known as Miss Gisela, is going to be at a table in the Syracuse Elementary Family Expo. Visit the library’s table for a schedule of activities during the summer. Reach the library at 574-457-3022 for questions and assistance.
