INDIANAPOLIS – The outstanding duo of seniors Clay Yeo of Triton and Demetrius Jackson of Mishawaka Marian highlight the rosters announced earlier today for the North-South Indiana All-Star Basketball Classic.
Yeo and Jackson will be teammates on the North squad for the contest slated for April 14. The 25th annual games, sponsored by Hoosier Basketball Magazine and Pacesetter Sports of Terre Haute, will be played at Rose Hulman in Terre Haute. The girls game begins at 2 p.m. with the boys contest scheduled for 4 p.m.
Yeo, a 6-6 guard, led Triton to a Class 1-A state runner-up finish last month. The Valparaiso University recruit averaged 26 points-per-game his senior season as Triton went 20-6 and advanced to the State Finals for the second time in the last three years. Yeo scored 26 points, including 19 in the fourth quarter, in Triton’s 55-50 loss to Borden in the Class 1-A state title game.
Jackson, who was runner-up for Mr. Basketball honors announced earlier this week, averaged 26.8 ppg. The 6-0 guard, who will play at Notre Dame, was the lone boys player from Indiana selected as a McDonald’s All-American. Jackson had five points, a team-high four assists and two steals for the East team in a 110-99 loss to the West in the contest played Wednesday night at the United Center in Chicago.
Also named to the North boys team for the Classic was Notre Dame recruit V.J. Beachem, a 6-7 forward from New Haven. Also on the North roster are Purdue recruit Bryson Scott, a 6-2 guard from Fort Wayne Northrop and Brenton Scott, a 6-0 guard from Northrop who will play at Indiana State.
The North girls team will include Andrijana Cvitkovic of Culver Academy, Bailey Farley of Fort Wayne Canterbury and Ariana Simmons of Fort Wayne South Side. Cvitkovic, a 6-3 center, will play at Dayton. Farley, a 5-10 forward, is bound for Loyola (Chicago) and Simmons, a 5-11 forward, will play at IPFW.
