For the second time this week, Pierceton Fire Department was called to 3773 E. 500 S. for a field fire. Today, officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department were also called to the scene.

The fire was reported just before 3:30 p.m. and resulted in Pierceton calling for a full assist from Sidney Fire Department because the fire was quickly moving toward a propane tank. The first time crews were called there Monday, several area fire departments were also called to help.

According to PFD Captain Nathan Rhoades, the cause of today’s fire is undetermined, but a report was filed with the KCSD due to the nature of the blaze.

Officials on scene were inspecting a burned pile of debris while other fire fighters doused the surrounding grassy area.
