GOSHEN – The Goshen College men’s basketball program will be led by a familiar face come the 2013-14 season.

Neil Young, a former assistant coach in the program, was named Tuesday as the new head coach of the Maple Leafs.

Young spent three seasons on the staff of former GC head coach Gary Chupp. Chupp resigned in March after six seasons as coach, citing a desire to pursue other opportunities and spend more time with his family.  Chupp won 89 games in his six years, the most wins by any coach in program history.

Young, who played at Anderson University,  left Goshen in 2011 and spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Lewis University in Illinois. He was the lead recruiter on Chupp’s coaching staff during his previous time at GC.

The Maple Leafs were 8-21 overall during the 2012-13 season, which included a 1-17 mark in Crossroads League play.
