WL crashAn accident reconstruction team was called to College Avenue and 7th Street in Winona Lake at about 11:20 p.m. Thursday following an accident that downed power lines.

The two-vehicle crash at College Avenue and 7th Street required extrication of the passenger in a vehicle that slammed into a row of parked cars. Two ambulances were called to the scene for the victims. The driver was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital following the accident and the passenger was transported to a Fort Wayne hospital.

Winona Lake and Warsaw fire departments were called at about 10:45 p.m. to the initial crash. NIPSCO crews were also called to repair the downed power lines.

According to an officer who was on scene, it appears the driver passed out prior to the collision. Evidence at the scene indicated drugs, or huffing, may have been a factor.

Additional information will be provided when it becomes available.
