Kids Market Inc. holds two consignment sales each year – one in March and another in September. By people bringing in their gently-used maternity and children’s items, and for the volunteers efforts in organizing the items and holding the consignment sale, Kids Market Inc. is able to donate to other worthy organizations.
The average number of items sold in the spring sales is 20,900 with 332 sellers. After the bills are paid and budgeted for the next sale, the money left over is given away. In 2011 Kids Market donated more than $25,000 to non-profits in Kosciusko County.
After the September 2012 sale, Kids Market donated $13,000 among Fellowship Mission Homeless Shelter, Combined Community Services Project Independence, Heartline and Beds and Britches Etc., Baker Youth Club, Beaman Home, Lakeland Youth Center, North Webster Community Center, Teen Parents Succeeding and area food pantries.
Since the first sale in fall 2001, Kids Market has donated more than $110,000 to local organizations.
Kids Market has found organizations locally that align perfectly with their mission, and the organization is thankful for the work these people are doing to impact the lives of families in Kosciusko County, McSherry said.
