WINONA LAKE – Lakeland Christian Academy soccer standout Stephen Danielian will continue his career on the collegiate level at IPFW.
Danielian, a four-year starter at forward for the Cougars, scored 33 goals with eight assists during his senior season, in which he was named team Most Valuable Player. Over his four years with LCA, Danielian scored 80 goals, and he helped his squad to two Indiana Christian State Tournament championships. In addition, Danielian received Northern Indiana Soccer Conference First Team honors.
“Stephen has worked hard to get where he is today and is constantly working to improve his play,” said LCA coach Charles Lee. “He’s a great team player who has remained selfless and humble in his play. He will be greatly missed.”
“Stephen is a pure goal scorer with pace,” said IPFW coach Mike Harper. “He puts opposing teams under pressure by using his speed and timely runs to probe the back line constantly.”
Danielian was a member of the 2011 Indiana State Olympic Development program and participated in the ODP Regional Tournament. He plays his club soccer for the Fort Wayne Fever, helping the team to the 2012 Indiana State Cup.
Danielian, the son of Roy and Martha Danielian, is one of six recruits signed for the 2013 season by Harper. The NCAA Division I Mastodons, members of the Summit League, finished 4-15-1 during the 2012 season. IPFW is slated to return five of its top six scorers from that team for the 2013 campaign.
