Carlyle L. Ginter, 90, of Warsaw, Ind., passed away at 5:28 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, in Life Care Center of Rochester, Ind.
He was born April 1, 1922, in Etna Green, Ind., to Minor and Flossie L. (Huffman) Ginter. He graduated from North Webster High School, North Webster, Ind., in 1940.
He lived most of life in Kosciusko County and Warsaw and wintered in Everglade City, Fla. He married Zelpha Witmer on Jan. 4, 1942, in Whitley County, Ind. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2012.
Mr. Ginter entered the United States Army on Nov. 12, 1942, from Toledo, Ohio; and served during World War II with Battery B 400th Armored Field Artillery Battalion as a radar repairman. Tec3 Carlyle L. Ginter was honorably discharged Oct. 13, 1945, from Camp Atterbury, Ind.
In 1950 he went into business for himself as owner and operator of Ginter Electric – Heating and Cooling (Warsaw) until his retirement in 1979. He turned over the business to son Wayne who continues its day to day operations
Mr. Ginter was a member of First Baptist Church of Warsaw. His legacy is his concern for the salvation of others. He and Zelpha allowed themselves to be used by God to serve as missionaries to those who were in need – whether a meal or place to sleep. Their gift of hospitality was second to their deep desire to lead those they met in the Warsaw and Ever Glade City areas to Christ; was available to fill pulpits when needed; worked often with the youth in these areas; was a pilot; enjoyed fishing and woodworking
He is survived by his wife: Zelpha Ginter, Warsaw; a son: Wayne (Jan) Ginter, Warsaw; a daughter: S. Anne Mason, Toledo, Ohio; four grandchildren: Josh Richard, Alabama; Mark (Andrea) Richard, Toledo, Ohio; Lynnae (Greg) Hall, Columbia City, Ind.; and Rod Ginter, Bremen, Ind.; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Patricia (David) Luckenbill, Warsaw; and Imogene Webb, South Bend, Ind.
He was preceded in death by a son: Infant Walden Ginter; and two brothers: Harold Ginter and Benjamin Ginter.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 16, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Services will follow at noon in the funeral home. Pastor Jim Zaugg of Indianapolis, Ind., will officiate. Burial will follow in North Webster Cemetery.
