Robinson Tabbed To Referee State Finals

CaptureIHSAAAKRON – Kirk Robinson, a highly-respected and longtime official, has been chosen by the IHSAA to work the girls basketball State Finals Saturday.

Robinson, a resident of Akron and a graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School, will be the lead official for the Class 2-A state championship game. The contest, pitting Evansville Mater Dei (27-2) versus Eastern (22-3), is scheduled for approximately 12:45 p.m. Saturday. The game, one of four in the 38th annual state finals, will be played in the Hulman Center on the Indiana State University campus in Terre Haute.

Robinson, who was the 2012 Indiana Girls Basketball Official of the Year, has been an official for 29 years. He has worked 23 girls basketball sectionals, 17 regionals, 10 semi states and this will be his fourth State Finals.  He has also officiated one boys basketball State Finals and the volleyball State Finals on seven occasions.

Robinson currently serves as the secretary/treasurer for the Northern Indiana Officials Association.
