North Webster Public Library News

Looking for a good book to read? Subscribe to the North Webster Public Library’s Book News and receive online monthly newsletters that showcase new titles.
The newsletters are available in 21 different categories such as Best Selling Fiction, Romance Books, Business, Home and Garden, Science Fiction, Children’s Books, Christian Fiction, History, and many other genres.
You can sign up for as many newsletters as you like, and they will be delivered directly to your e-mail address. To sign up, just go to the NWPL website and click on the Book News icon on the bottom right side of the home page and start receiving the latest news on books. And whenever you find a book you want to read, you can check its availability and place a hold directly from the library’s online catalog. Book News is just one of the many ways the library helps our patrons stay informed and well read.
The library wants to make sure all our patrons have access to good books. That’s why the library offers Homebound Services to those with health or mobility issues that limit their ability to visit the library. Volunteers will visit homebound residents to deliver, pick up, and return library materials.
If you qualify for this service, the Library staff will make selections for you based on your preferences or you can make your own selections from the library’s online catalog available on our website. To be eligible to receive Homebound Services, you must be a Tippecanoe Township resident, unable to come to the library due to a permanent condition or a temporary condition that will last for six weeks or longer, and have no one who can pick up and deliver library materials for you.
To find out if you qualify and to apply for Homebound Services, call Adult Services Director Beth Smith at 574-834-7122 ext. 205 and she will mail you an application. Simply fill out the application and mail it back to the NWPL.
For those who are able to get out and about, we invite you to visit the library often and get involved in our many programs. Coming up next week is Writer’s Corner at 10 a.m. to Monday, Feb. 18. This is a group of people who like to write and meets the third Monday of each month to share ideas and develop their talents. New members are always welcome.
This month’s assignment is to write about owning a candy shop. Later in the day at 5:30 p.m., the R.E.A.D. Book Club meets to discuss Light on Snow by Anita Shreve. If you like to read a variety of books, this is the book club for you.
It’s a busy time for the kids next week as well with beginINbooks on Monday at 5:30 p.m. This program is for families with children age 18 months and older that helps develop early literacy skills and kindergarten readiness. Preschool Story Time takes place at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 with another session at 11:30 a.m. Then the teens engage in some friendly competition as they learn to play the card game Hearts during Teen Time on Thursday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 21.
