It was a championship weekend for an area group of volleyball standouts who teamed to win a tournament championship.

The Outland Volleyball Club’s U18 Onyx squad, which is based out of Warsaw, went undefeated to win the Hoosier Mini Tourney title in Plainfield.

The talented team includes a handful of Warsaw players in Katie Voelz, Jamie Lacheta, Chloe Hubner, Chandler Stevens and Emily Poe. The group led the WCHS team to a Northern Lakes Conference championship this past fall.

The Onyx team also included Lydia Katsarapoulos of Wawasee, Laura Craig of Northridge and Arie Kennedy of Northfield.

Mike Alejado coached the team to the championship.
