HeadshotSharon K. Gilbert, 71, of Milford, Ind., passed away at 1:22 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, Ind.

She was born on Feb. 26. 1941, in Syracuse, Ind., to Clinton Albert “Bud” and Lois Louise (Simon) Gilbert. She was a lifetime Milford / Syracuse area resident and graduated in 1959 from Syracuse High School. She retired in June 2006 from The Papers in Milford after 45 years of service.

She formerly attended the Syracuse Church of the Brethren and was a member of the Lakeland Ladies Bowling League for 46 years as well as being active in the organization at Wawasee Bowl in Syracuse.

She was survived by a sister: Janice (Larry) Ryman, Milford, Ind.; his niece: Tammy Stewart, Milford; two nephews: Tracy Ryman, Milford; and Terry (Lori) Ryman, South Bend, Ind.; one great-nephew, seven great-nieces, one great-great-nephew, and two great-great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a great nephew.

Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Josh Weiland of the Wawasee Bible Church in Milford officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.

Memorial bequest may be given to the Sharon Gilbert Funeral Fund, c/o Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, IN 46567 or the Syracuse Food Bank, 203 E. Main St., Syracuse, IN 46567. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
