The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department detectives are warning citizens of yet another local telephone scam. Officers have recently received at least three reported incidents of local citizens being contacted by alleged “Medicare” representatives via telephone.

The caller apparently attempts to retrieve personal information from the victims by various forms of tactics, even stating to some individuals that their benefits will be cancelled if they do not assist completely. In most of these cases, the suspect appears to sound as though they have a Hispanic accent.

K.C.S.D. detectives urge citizens to be very protective of their personal information. If contacted, officers are advising the public to simply hang-up on the phone caller.
