RUSSIAVILLE — In the final tune-up before the postseason officially begins, Wawasee took to Western High School for the annual Western Duals Saturday, and came away with three team wins.

The Warriors knocked off Winamac 47-22, Pioneer 64-9 and Wabash 72-12. Wawasee suffered defeats to host Western 46-27 and Peru 61-15.

Heavyweight Chad Eppley was the only Wawasee wrestler to run undefeated on the day, sweeping all five of his matches.

Wawasee will host the Northern Lakes Conference Championships this Saturday, with bracket matches beginning at 9 a.m. in all 14 weight classes. The team champion will be determined on points won per weight based on finish. Elkhart Memorial are the defending champion.

The start of the state postseason is Jan. 26 at the Plymouth Sectional. This season ushers in just individual advancement rather than individual and team. The top four individuals at the sectional move onto the regional round.
