BOURBON – The Triton girls basketball team pitched a second-quarter shutout Friday night.

The Trojans held visiting Culver scoreless in the second period of play en route to a dominating 52-37 victory in Northern State Conference action.

The Class 1-A No. 10 Trojans outscored the Cavaliers 19-0 in the pivotal second stanza frame to easily win the battle of previously unbeatens in league play. Triton, which led 26-7 at halftime and 41-19 after three quarters, improves to 11-4 overall and 5-0 in NSC action. Culver, which received votes in this week’s Class 1-A poll, drops to 9-5 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

Senior Shana Anderson led the way to victory with 16 points for coach Adam Heckaman’s squad. The Trojans have now won three in a row since back-to-back losses at home to Class 4-A No. 10 and undefeated Warsaw and Class 1-A No. 2 Oregon-Davis.
